Day 36: Montréal to Trois-Rivières 135 km

Nice morning , we took Hwy 138 out of Montreal and all the way to Trois-Riveres. We crossed a branch of the St. Laurence as we said good by to Montreal. photo(107)

What a nice ride, very flat and good shoulders most of the way. Rob cycled with us for the first 30 km! Glad to see him back on his bike and with us for a second day. He joined Jacquie in the RV after the 30 km. He is planning on increasing the distance each day as his body adjusts to riding again.

Wet shoe day…  We did get some heavy rain in the morning but in the early afternoon the sun came out! Nice to end the day in the sun. DSC_5754

Our path took us through many small towns. Each had its own character but all seem to have a beautiful church at the center accenting the Catholic heritage of Quebec. photo(108)We followed the St. Laurence and had some great views especially the closer we got to Trois-Riveres. The river valley has some amazing homes and many farms surrounded by rich agricultural land. What a beautiful ride! photo(109)Shipping… This tanker we passed maybe headed where we have been… Sault Saint Marie or Thunder Bay.photo(110)With it being a short day we got in around 4:30 pm. Sure was nice to have a shower and dinner before our presentation at our host’s home with their family and friends. Thank you Helen and Susan for dinner and hosting our team us overnight! (A few people left before we got this shot.) Tonight was the first night the presentation was done in French. So thankful for Rob’s and Jacquie’s French language skills!DSC_5793A really good day.
