Day 19 – The Last of the Long Days

Many thanks to Jean-Michel, his wife, Murielle and there three daughters for the warm and friendly welcome that made us feel very much at home during our stay in Deux Montagnes.

We had a beautiful sunny day and not too hot to cycle 186 km to Trois Rivières, I must admit I found it tiring to cycle Hwy 344 through the communities north of Laval and Montreal.  There were so many stop lights and stop signs. I was happy when we got to open road east of Terre Bonne. It was there I found this small stream beside the road. You can see the water is dirty. This is like what many rural Africans use as their source of water. This is why we are cycling for water (for GAiN).

When we came across this power line tower, I looked up and actually got dizzy. It is the tallest one that I have ever seen.

During the last few days we passed so many fields with this type of plant but we weren’t sure what it was. Timo finally stopped and asked someone working near such a field and we learned that they were soybeans. Quebec can sure make lots of tofu!  🙂

This is a gorgeous view of Lake Saint Pierre from Pointe-du-lac.

And not to far from which Timo took a brief rest on the side of the road after an unexpected and long detour.

At 6 PM we finally arrived at the home of Hélène and Suzanne who warmly welcomed and feed us.

Tomorrow is our last day of cycling and of the project. My vacation is almost over.
