Day 40: Thunder Bay to Jackfish Lake Resort – 240 KM
Our first female guest cyclist joined us today. Paige is a student at Lakehead University with a keen interest in water resources/water management. She guided Mike and Gabe out of Thunder Bay to reconnect with the Trans-Canada Highway east of the city. We really appreciated the ride and conversation with Paige.
Our day was filled with some great views along the north shore of Lake Superior! Someone commented, “Are we back in BC?” because of the significant hills on the route. It was a beautiful day. The head wind was still with us though out the day.
Because of the distance to be covered today, we did the “tag team” approach again with 30 km sections. Each team of two covered about 120 km to accomplish the distance for the day.
Our day ended with a wonderful treat! Jackfish Lake Resort gave us free accommodations for the night! We wanted to park overnight but they had a cancellation and when they heard what we were doing they gave us two rooms for free. So very generous and kind of them, big thank you to Brenda and the Jackfish Lake Resort!
