Day 27: Suffield to Gull Lake – 165 KM

Day 27: Suffield to Gull Lake – 165 KM

And then there were four… Yes, back to four cyclists. Rob’s ankle was ready to go. The morn was cool and a bit overcast with little wind. We made a quick trip to Medicine Hat. On the way we spotted a beautiful mule deer.

At about the 45 km mark, as our habit is, we stopped for a coffee break at Tim Horton’s. In the lineup the question was asked, “What are you doing?” A little while later the same guy came over and handed us $20.

As we left Medicine Hat we had two disappointments. First, Gabe had a second flat. Lyndon picked him up. They made a quick trip to a bike shop that Mike’s bike had a “doctors” appointment with the day before. They gave great service and fit us in because the resonated with our trip across Canada. So a shout out to Justin at Cyclepath!

Second, remember the tail wind mentioned yesterday? Well, it was gone. For the rest of the day we battled a soul crushing head wind! Timo is the most “let’s smell the roses” member of our team. Today he could not resist!

As determined as the wind seemed to be to keep us out of Saskatchewan, we did make it.

When we finished our ride at the 165 km mark we loaded up are bikes and headed to Swift Current. Our hosts for tonight, Jim and Marilyn live there. We also had an interview with two reps from the local media in Swift Current, a newspaper and a radio station.
