Day 5: Up Hill Day

We said goodby to Vavenby at 7:15 am. Our average km per day for the trip is 175km. Today was that distance. It was an up hill day as we moved closer to the Rocky Mountains. The road was a gradual up hill march all day. We had overcast sky for most of the day. Rain moved in for about an hour.

Road UpIt was a day filled with beautiful views… We crossed paths with 3 black bears, a deer and caught a glimpse of a moose. Sorry no pictures. It is a little unsettling seeing a bear about 5 meters away when you are on a bike! The only other wide life sighting were on day 3 when we managed to spook a herd of about 20 big horn sheep.

View BetterWe did have another flat, Richard this time and I broke a spoke. Rob is a great bike repairs!

Fix AgainJacquie was close by to bring us the parts and tools needed. She also served up lunch for us. From the “snack shack” our RV/support vehicle. We are very grateful for her!

Jacquie CookingWe finished the day riding into Valmount at about 6:30 pm. As soon as we got in town we did a TV interview for a local television. Then had a wonderful potluch dinner at the Mountain Driftwood Guest House with our hosts and people from the community.
