Sunday in Dawson

Sunday in Dawson

Our day started with a warm welcome from the folks at the Dawson Community Chapel. We enjoyed the service and the opportunity to do our first presentation about GAiN and Cycling 4 Water on this trip. They are very warm and generous folks!

The afternoon provided some time to clean and check over our bikes after the very dusty trip over the road construction areas. Gabe was the primary mechanic today.

Also, in the afternoon, we had a chance for a relaxing ride around Dawson which is on the shore of the Yukon River. There’s lots of history in this small town. It was settled in 1896 during the Klondike Gold Rush and became a city in 1902. This church was built in 1901. This is the traditional territory of the Tr’ondek Hwech’in nation.

The wrap on the RV is generating some great conversations and donations. These three gals noticed and came by to give us a cash donation; so kind and very encouraging.
