TODAY, 1 child dies every 21 seconds from a water-related disease.
Lack of access to clean water and sanitation kills children at a rate equivalent to a jumbo jet crashing every 4 hours. 443 million school days are lost each year due to water-related illnesses. 11% of the global population, or 783 million people, are still without access to improved sources of drinking water. 2.5 billion people, including almost 1 billion children, live without even basic sanitation. Every 20 seconds, a child dies as a result of poor sanitation. That’s 1.5 million preventable deaths each year.
But it doesn’t have to be this way!
Often, just 80 meters below their feet are aquifers of pure, disease-free drinking water. By providing one deep-capped water well, we can help to break the cycle of disease and death and transform communities for a lifetime. Cycling 4 Water is partnering with the Global Aid Network Canada to help bring this life saving water to those who desperately need it. Thank you for joining us in this cause to reach 60 communities with 60 water wells.
