This was an “everything” day! We started the day with an excellent breakfast provided by our hosts Tim and Debbie.  Thank you Tim and Debbie! Cycling began with sun and blue sky.

At about the 35 km mark, we were hit with a downpour. In fact, we pulled into the Whitefish River First Nation Community Centre for cover and called Lyndon to bring our rain gear, which we wore for the rest of the day. Storm front after storm front passed over us.  The wind also hit us from every direction with gusts up to 50 km in the afternoon.

The route had some challenging hills, and also nice flat stretches. Much of the distance was on Manitoulin Island, the largest fresh water island in the world. The Ten Mile Point pull out did not disappoint for some great views.

Our ride was cut short by about 10 km because of the deadline to reach the ferry terminal for our reservation. The ferry from South Baymouth to Tobermory took about two hours. The strong winds made for a bumpy ride. No one got sea sick! The ferry had a Covid generated limited capacity and face masks were required at all times.

No host tonight so we will be spending the evening at the Tobermory Village Campground.
