Day 2: Steward Crossing to Rock Island Lake – 85 KM

Day 2: Steward Crossing to Rock Island Lake – 85 KM

This short day is the result of the extra time in the schedule from not being able to enter the NWT. Another sunny day, but the wind was not as favourable as our first day. The rolling terrain of the Yukon provides for some challenging cycling and some beautiful views.

Today was also another day, like yesterday, completely off the grid for meals and camping. Our overnight parking spot was found at the suggestion of a local truck driver we met at a road side turn off. Both yesterday and today the campgrounds where we intended to overnight were closed because of Covid or had gone out of business. Rock Island Lake provided a great place for a swim. We had the whole lake to ourselves!
