Day 10: Jade City to Iskut – 202 KM

Day 10: Jade City to Iskut – 202 KM

Today we were on the road at 7:20 am, a beautiful morning; a little later than our 6:45 start yesterday. The first 50 km was amazing; we had some great views, wind at our backs and lots of downhill sections.

Our lunch stop was in Dease Lake. The hill out of town was a huge challenge. Rob mastered it without a stop! Timo and Mike said they were stopping to take pictures. LOL! Crazy thing, as we were climbing the wind shifted from a tail wind to a head wind. The wind was so strong even when we were going downhill we had to peddle.

We have a new Murphy’s Law: The odds of having a head wind and rain in the last 20 km of a ride increase with the length of the ride. The past three nights we have had 200 plus km rides and each night we have had a head wind and rain in the last 20 km! We arrived at our camp site at 7:45 tonight; it was 9:00 last night.  Last night, I went to bed with the thought, “God, there needs to be a miracle tonight for me to get back on the bike tomorrow.”
